A short (uphill) walk from the city's historic center, this 5-platform full-service train station offers passengers many rail connections.
There are five platforms at Siena’s train station, and although the building has two floors, it’s only the main level that’s meant for passenger use. Services at the station include a ticket office, restrooms, a cafe, a small shop, and a pharmacy. There is no luggage storage at Siena’s station.
The station is located on Piazza Carlo Rosselli, which is roughly a 1.3-mile walk from the Piazza del Campo in the historic center. The train station is outside the city walls, and the uphill walk into the center can be steep. Especially if you’ve got luggage. You may prefer to take a local bus or taxi. Buses that stop nearby can also transport you to other cities in the area, including Montalcino and Montepulciano.
Travelers coming from Florence to Siena may want to consider taking a regional bus instead of the train. The bus trip is slightly shorter, and the bus station is inside the city walls of Siena whereas the train station is not, making it easier to walk to your destination in Siena without taking a taxi.
